Oregon Working Families Party Update

OREGON WORKING FAMILIES PARTY
CONVENTION

SAT. AUGUST 9, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

International Longshore & Warehouse Union Local 8
2435 NW Front Avenue, Portland, Oregon, 97209

All Oregon Working Families Party members and supporters are invited to attend our first convention.  We will be discussing our platform and considering endorsements and nominations for the 2008 election.

Because we do not yet have fusion voting in Oregon, the Steering Committee will be recommending only a few formal nominations, but we may also endorse candidates of other parties.

Only OWFP members who did not vote in a partisan primary in May, 2008, will be able to vote in the nominating process.   If you voted in the May primary but only for nonpartisan offices and ballot measures, and if you are either registered as a Working Families Party voter or a dues paying OWFP member, you will be able to vote for OWFP nominations.

Any candidates seeking the OWFP endorsement should contact us at info@oregonwfp.org for a copy of our candidate questionnaire.
The OWFP seeks to focus our government on making our jobs better, our families more secure and our communities more prosperous:

  • Healthcare for all Oregonians without private profit;
  • Debt-free higher education and technical training;
  • Promote green family wage jobs;
  • Create affordable housing;
  • Curb predatory lending.
